Varna is the largest city on the Black Sea Coast. It is set in a quiet bay 470km east of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Varna has the biggest International Airport on the Black Sea Cost and the quickest way to get to the city is by airplane. Hemus Air have flights from Sofia to Varna every day, which take approximately 45 minutes. Many international carriers also fly directly into Varna during the summer season, with a number of major low-cost carriers expected to be starting in the near future. Many of the world's greatest cultures have inhabited this beautiful city over the past millennia, leaving behind them a veritable treasure trove of untold historical riches. Mosques, Konaks (town-halls) and Turkish baths were built. The construction of churches was strongly forbidden for a long time. In 1878 Varna was finally liberated and became Bulgaria's most prominent seaport town. As the new century was just beginning Varna was quickly establishing itself as a major tourist destination.
The city contains a number of stunning Varna property which evoke the feeling of power and beauty reminiscent of the olden days. Examples of such buildings are the Roman Spa and Roman Baths which are situated right in the city center. These monuments were built in 2nd century and nowadays are sights of great tourist and archaeological interest.

One of the most beautiful landmarks of the city is the famous "Holy Virgin Cathedral", built in the city center by a famous Russian master of the architecture in 1866.
Many other monuments are to be seen, such as the puppet theatre, more than 10 different museums as well as the famous art gallery.
The Sea Garden is a place that is definitely not to be missed. Completed in the beginning of the 19th century the sea garden stretches along the coast for 8-9km. On its territory you will find beautiful gardens, valleys, mini-golf, children playgrounds, fountains, a dolphinarium (one of the top attractions for children and guests of Varna), zoo, planetarium, amphitheatre and much more.
During the day you can relax at the wide, sandy beach-front, enjoying a leisurely lunch or coffee in one of the many restaurants that offer excellent food. In the night you can also have dinner, or a just a drink in one of the great pubs or clubs situated along the beach.
A visit to the Black Sea Coast would not be complete without a stroll around this beautiful city.
